Flume and Emma Louise Reveal New Song “Easy Goodbye”
Flume is back, and this time, he’s bringing something far more intimate than ever before.
Teaming up with fellow Australian artist Emma Louise, the Grammy-winning producer has announced DUMB, a new collaborative album arriving August 22, 2025. The project’s debut single, “Easy Goodbye,” offers a first glimpse into a record built on imperfection, emotional transparency, and sonic exploration.
Unlike their previous collaboration “Hollow” from Palaces, DUMB sees Flume and Louise go deeper. “Easy Goodbye” is delicate yet glitched-out—washed in synths that flicker like static over emotional wreckage. Louise’s airy vocals carry a sense of ache that never begs for sympathy but sits peacefully in the pain, while Flume’s fractured, shimmering production mirrors the fragility.
But DUMB isn’t just a stylistic shift—it’s a personal one. Louise, reflecting on her late-diagnosed neurodivergence, calls the album a reclaiming of self-worth. “At first, naming the album DUMB felt irreverent and freeing,” she said, “but later I realized how deeply it connected to my own fear of being seen as stupid and unworthy. This album is me reclaiming that word, letting go of shame.”
That context transforms the album title from a provocation into a statement of defiant self-acceptance—and gives “Easy Goodbye” a haunting depth. There’s heartbreak here, but also clarity. It’s the kind of electronic music that doesn’t need to be loud to be powerful—it just needs to be honest.
As the full album approaches, DUMB promises not only a new chapter for Flume, but a platform for Emma Louise’s voice—both literal and figurative—to be heard without compromise. If “Easy Goodbye” is any indication, this will be one of 2025’s most emotionally resonant releases.
