Blood Orange Remixes Sugababes’ “Same Old Story”: Listen
Blood Orange has remixed a Sugababes track to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved UK pop group’s debut, One Touch. Check out his UK garage–inspired take on “Same Old Story” below.
Dev Hynes collaborated with the original Sugababes lineup when they formed an offshoot group, Mutya Keisha Siobhan, in 2013. He co-wrote the single “Flatline” with the trio.
Sugababe Siobhan said in a press release: “Dev’s music has become the soundtrack to my life in recent years. For me it was a no brainer to ask him to be involved in our anniversary project given the amazing experience of working with him previously with the girls and also knowing that he grew up with One Touch and understood the record. The brief was simple, pick whatever track you want and do whatever you like with it. For me he has delivered the perfect 2021 update to our sound and I’ve had it on repeat ever since.”
The One Touch reissue, out October 1, also comes with remixes from MNEK, Metronomy, and others. Read about Sugababes classic “Freak Like Me” in Pitchfork’s feature “The Story of Girl Groups in 45 Songs.”
