Caverns and SVDDEN DEATH Split, Leading to Cancellation of 2024 Summoning of the Eclipse Festival

The Caverns, a well-known cave complex and concert venue in Tennessee, has announced it will no longer host SVDDEN DEATH’s curated music festival, Summoning of the Eclipse. The decision was shared today by Danny Howland, better known as SVDDEN DEATH, on his social media channels.

Summoning of the Eclipse debuted at The Caverns in 2022 and quickly became one of the most prominent festivals for dubstep and bass music in the United States. The festival featured a lineup of top-tier artists and attracted fans from across the country. SVDDEN DEATH, the festival’s founder and a leading figure in the electronic music scene, headlined the event each year.

Howland expressed disappointment with The Caverns decision, stating, “We threw a safe and successful festival two years in a row. I was the first DJ to play there and helped build the venue’s deserved reputation as an amazing destination. I started Summoning as a celebration of the underground, to showcase me and my friends’ art, and a place for all of us to build a community.”

The festival’s emphasis on community and creativity resonated with fans and artists alike, making it a beloved event in the electronic music calendar. Howland’s vision was to create a space where artists could freely express themselves and where fans could enjoy immersive performances in a unique setting.

Despite the festival’s success, The Caverns’ decision means Summoning of the Eclipse will not take place in 2024. Howland emphasized that the festival was always about “fun and the art,” adding that the decision to end the partnership was disappointing. He remains committed to the festival’s future and hopes to continue it in a new location that aligns with the event’s inclusive and artistic spirit.

“We hope to continue Summoning Fest in a different, more welcoming area in 2025,” Howland stated. This statement reflects his dedication to keeping the festival alive and finding a venue that aligns with his vision of supporting creativity and community within the bass music scene.

The Caverns, known for its unique natural setting and excellent acoustics, has hosted numerous high-profile music events, making it a sought-after destination for artists and fans alike. However, the decision to no longer host Summoning of the Eclipse signals a shift in the venue’s future programming.

Fans of the festival and SVDDEN DEATH are eagerly awaiting updates on the future of Summoning of the Eclipse and potential new locations. Howland’s commitment to his vision suggests that the festival will continue to grow and adapt, bringing together artists and fans in celebration of underground music.

As the electronic music scene changes, events like Summoning of the Eclipse play a crucial role in providing platforms for artistic expression and community building. The festival’s next chapter promises to be an exciting development for fans of SVDDEN DEATH and the bass music genre.
