Perfecto Records Turns 35: the London Special Screening and Celebration

On June 19, Perfecto Records will host a special screening of Perfecto: How Dance Music Changed the World at London’s Sanctum Hotel. Running from 7 PM to 11 PM, the event marks the second showing of the documentary, following its premiere at the Cine International Festival earlier this year. Positioned in the heart of the capital, the venue offers a tailored setting for an intimate reflection on one of the UK’s most enduring electronic music labels.

The evening is structured as both a film screening and a social gathering. Guests will be welcomed with food and drinks before viewing the documentary, which details the formation and three-decade history of Perfecto Records. The film includes interviews with key figures such as Paul Oakenfold, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Pete Tong, Carl Cox, and Fatboy Slim—offering varied perspectives on the label’s influence across multiple eras of dance music.

To close the evening, DJ Nancy Noise—Perfecto’s office manager and an important name in Balearic and early UK dance culture—will perform a DJ set. Her inclusion signals the event’s commitment to honoring those who contributed to the label’s ethos behind the scenes as much as in the spotlight. It also roots the celebration in the lived, communal aspect of club culture, reminding attendees that Perfecto’s legacy is not only recorded but also performed.

Founded in the late 1980s by Paul Oakenfold, Perfecto Records played a notable role in shaping the trajectory of UK dance music. Known for releasing genre-crossing tracks by artists such as Grace, BT, Tiësto, and Carl Cox, the label maintained a broad vision of electronic music that was both club-focused and radio-aware. Over 35 years, Perfecto expanded into events, fashion, and syndicated radio, building a multi-platform identity that helped sustain its relevance in a fast-changing industry.
