Subtronics and Flowdan Team Up for New Dubstep Track “Hunter”

Subtronics and Flowdan have linked up once again—and they didn’t come to play. Their latest collaboration, “Hunter,” is a cold-blooded follow-up to 2022’s “Gassed Up,” but this time, the duo opt for sharp minimalism over maximalist chaos. Released on Subtronics’ Cyclops Recordings, the track ditches the theatrics and doubles down on raw energy.

Where many dubstep tracks still chase the biggest drop in the room, “Hunter” thrives on tension and contrast. Subtronics keeps the production tight and muscular, using distorted textures, filtered sweeps, and churning bass to create a pressure-cooker atmosphere. The usual build-and-drop formula? Thrown out the window. In its place, a sense of controlled aggression that pulses without exploding.

Flowdan is the anchor here. His voice—gritty, grounded, unmistakable—doesn’t just ride the beat, it stalks it. Known for his work on “Baddadan” and “Rumble,” Flowdan brings that same dark magnetism, turning each verse into a mission statement. But unlike other features where the vocals fight for space, here the beat respects him. Subtronics leaves room to breathe—and that restraint is what gives “Hunter” its bite.

The track made its first appearance during Subtronics’ Deadbeats vs. Cyclops takeover at Miami Music Week and later tore through both sold-out nights at Red Rocks, with Flowdan himself appearing live. It was already a crowd weapon before it dropped, and now that it’s out officially, it’s easy to hear why. “Hunter” isn’t trying to please everyone—it’s laser-focused and unapologetically grimy.

And perhaps that’s the point. This isn’t just a track built for festivals—it’s built for repeat listens, for deep subs, for heads who appreciate craft over chaos. While Subtronics continues evolving through projects like Fibonacci Part 1: Oblivion, “Hunter” stands apart as a precise, punishing reminder of what happens when two artists know exactly what they want to say—and say it without wasting a second.
