“Weightless”: Martin Garrix & Arijit Singh’s New Hit

In “Weightless,” Martin Garrix trades his usual high-voltage energy for something quieter, more introspective. Reuniting with Indian vocalist Arijit Singh, the track steps away from the drop-heavy spectacle of mainstream EDM and enters a more vulnerable, emotionally suspended space.

Released on STMPD RCRDS, “Weightless” leans into subtlety. Martin Garrix’s production is spare and deliberate, favoring gentle builds and soft synth layers over booming basslines. Singh, one of the most recognizable voices in Indian music, continues his transition into English-language songwriting with striking ease. His vocals carry a delicate tension—reflective, almost hesitant—as he explores themes of fear, disconnection, and emotional inertia.

Where their previous collaboration, “Angels for Each Other,” hinted at this softer direction, “Weightless” fully commits. There’s no traditional drop, no euphoric payoff. Instead, the song lives in the in-between: not quite dancefloor, not quite ballad. It’s music made for quiet rooms and thoughtful moments.

Singh’s lyric, “Why’s my chest gripped with fear,” sits in the mix like a thought half-spoken—echoing the broader theme of emotional limbo. Rather than push for dramatic effect, Garrix leaves room for that line to resonate. The restraint works.

This isn’t EDM redefined—it’s EDM recalibrated. By resisting maximalism, Garrix and Singh show how emotional depth can surface when flash takes a backseat. “Weightless” doesn’t aim to lift you up. It holds you gently in place—and that might be the point.
