Fred again..’s ‘Actual Life 3’ Secures Best Dance/Electronic Album at 2024 Grammys
Fred again..‘s immersive sonic journey, ‘Actual Life 3 (January 1 – September 23, 2022),’ clinched the prestigious Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album during the Grammy Premiere Ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday (Feb. 4).
The British producer, a double Grammy winner on the night, also earned recognition for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for his collaboration on “Rumble” with Skrillex and Flowdan. Despite being nominated for Best New Artist, the award announcement for that category was reserved for the live telecast.
Fred again.., regrettably absent from the ceremony, had his accolade accepted by the host, Justin Tranter.
In a competitive field, ‘Actual Life 3 (January 1 – September 23, 2022)’ triumphed over formidable contenders, including James Blake’s ‘Playing Robots Into Space,’ Skrillex’s ‘Quest for Fire’ (on which Fred again.. contributed significantly), Kaskade’s ‘Kx5,’ and The Chemical Brothers’ ‘For That Beautiful Feeling.’
Released in November 2022, ‘Actual Life 3’ marked Fred again..’s debut entry onto the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. The album arrived amid a remarkable period for the producer, who had electrifying performances at Coachella and headlined Madison Square Garden alongside Skrillex and Four Tet in February 2023. Further highlights included a headline slot at Coachella 2023, prominent sets at festivals like Glastonbury, and a groundbreaking residency at the Shrine in Los Angeles in November.
Looking ahead, Fred again.. is slated to headline Bonnaroo 2024 in June. Currently boasting two tracks, “leavemealone” with Baby Keem and “Ten” with Jozzy, on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Fred again.. continues to carve his path in the electronic music landscape.
