Charlotte de Witte Breathes New Fire into Scoop’s “Drop It”
Charlotte de Witte has unveiled her latest remix: a rework of Scoop’s 1999 dance anthem “Drop It,” set for release on August 7 through her Époque label. The Belgian techno artist described the track as a tribute to the golden era of rave culture in Europe, particularly in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany.
“’Drop It’ is one of those tracks that never really left the dance floor,” de Witte said in a statement. “It carries the spirit of an era… This one’s for the dancers, then and now.”
Originally produced by Belgian DJ Daniel Bovie under the alias Scoop, the track became a staple in clubs at the turn of the millennium. De Witte’s remix brings the original into her signature techno framework—faster, darker, and more percussive—while retaining its instantly recognizable hook.
The remix is the second release from Époque, an archival offshoot of de Witte’s KNTXT label. Époque focuses on revisiting and reviving influential tracks from Belgium’s clubbing history. The first release came last year with de Witte’s remix of Push’s 1998 trance classic “Universal Nation.”
The announcement follows a historic weekend for de Witte at Tomorrowland 2025, where she became the first artist ever to both open and close the festival on the same day. Her dual performance came just two days after a fire destroyed the original main stage. A replacement stage was constructed in time, allowing the festival to proceed as planned.
In addition to her work on Époque, Charlotte de Witte has remained active with her own original releases. Recent tracks include “No Division” and “The Realm,” both from her forthcoming self-titled debut album. She also contributed a remix to Enrico Sangiuliano’s “The Techno Code” EP earlier this year.
De Witte’s only scheduled Ibiza appearance this summer will take place on September 22 at [UNVRS]. Fans can watch the original “Drop It” video online while waiting for her updated version to drop in August.
