BORED APE YACHT CLUB CREATOR BUYS CRYPTOPUNKS
The creator of the most popular NFT Tokens, Yuga Labs, has bought CryptoPunks and Meebits collections from Larva Labs.
Yuga now owns three of the most pricey non-fungible token collections on the market. Not long after its release, CryptoPunks became a leading brand in the NFT world, and Meebits recently became a hit. In an interview with The Verge, Greg Solano – the co-founder of Bored Ape Yacht Club told, “It’s [CryptoPunks] just iconic, ahead of its time. It’s visionary, and it’s gonna be here forever. We were just immediately excited about it without knowing at all what we would want the next step to be.”
John Watkinson and Matt Hall – Larva Labs co-founders launched CryptoPunk in 2017 as a *digital art collection.* Today the NFT collection comes in at $2.2 billion, and according to OpenSea, Meebits have racked up over $227 million in volume.
CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club became the first and second bestsellers the previous week.
