BITE Celebrates Fifth Anniversary with Special Various Artists Compilation
Phase Fatale’s Berlin-based label, BITE, has unveiled an 18-track V/A compilation to mark its fifth anniversary.
Slated for release on May 5 across vinyl, CD, and digital formats, the lead track ‘Crashed Communion’ – a collaboration between Fatale and Silent Servant – is available now.
The complete record, titled ‘Shedding Skin‘, features label regulars such as Pablo Bozzi, Reka, New Frames, and Unhuman while also introducing newcomers like Nastya Vogan, Omon Breaker, and Gael. “I’m excited to curate five years of the label showcasing its wide style from early Pansonic sparse industrial techno to wave and synthpunk tied together by bursting electronic rhythm, shedding its skin and evolving, from new and old friends,” explains Phase Fatale about the release.
Throughout its five-year existence, the label has released over 25 records, aiming to highlight both up-and-coming and established artists who share a common goal of pushing techno boundaries. While exploring various styles under the genre’s umbrella – from sparse industrial sounds to italo body sounds – the label has sought to create a community centered on the romanticism found deep within techno soundscapes.
BITE has also organized label showcases at Berghain, Tbilisi’s KHIDI, New York’s Basement, and other global venues such as Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Seoul. On April 21, a BITE showcase will occur at Berghain, with both floors curated by Fatale, including his new collaborative live show with New Frames. More information can be found here.
‘Shedding Skin‘ will be available on May 5. You can pre-order it here and listen to the lead track ‘Crashed Communion’ now.
