Charli XCX Sweeps BRIT Awards 2025: Artist of the Year & More

Charli XCX swept five major awards at the 2025 BRIT Awards, which took place at the O2 Arena in London. The UK-born artist took home the night with victories that included Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Dance Act of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

Charli XCX sixth studio album, Brat, was an enormous success. The album has been praised for its innovative and pioneering style. It also sparked a cultural phenomenon, redefining the term “brat” to stand for self-confidence and independence. The album had such an impact that “brat” was selected as the 2024 Collins Word of the Year.

Her hit single “Guess,” performed with Billie Eilish, took Song of the Year. Speaking as she received the Best Dance Act award, Charli indicated a deep love of dance music: “This genre is euphoric to me—it makes me feel able to escape and connect on a deep level.” She also saluted her late producing collaborator Sophie, whose legacy continues to influence electronic music.

The festival featured great performances by artists like Sam Fender and The Last Dinner Party. There was a touching tribute to Liam Payne, a member of One Direction, who passed away last year. Charli’s recognition as Songwriter of the Year marked her first BRIT Award in this category, following years of nominations in other fields.
