Funny story-turned-collaboration between Local Singles and Sam Blacky on “Hotsteppa”
International powerhouse Sam Blacky joins forces with producer/DJ duo Local Singles to create their new single “Hotsteppa,” a tribal Afrohouse-influenced gem that truly represents both of their sonic profiles. Local Singles deliver a rhythmic and euphoric tune that builds with an element of mystique into something special that you’ll put on repeat immediately. Blacky, who has always been vocal about her love for travel and incorporating global sounds into her music, shines in this space, fusing deep bass undertones with tribal instrumentals and vocals. “Hotsteppa” is a catchy record that makes you feel like you’re grooving in the jungle or desert until sunrise – making it no surprise then that it’s first live plays came from Diplo and Francis Mercier at Burning Man and Tom & Collins in Tulum. “Hotsteppa” follows Local Singles‘ track “Fever” on BLOND: ISH‘s label and Sam Blacky‘s “Ronaldinho” with Niniola, both of which were released in May.
I went to see Keinemusik for my birthday at the Brooklyn Mirage, who has been one of my favorite artists for years. I didn’t run into the Local Singles boys, but found out later they were right next to me in the crowd the entire time. We laughed so hard when we saw each other’s stories, and I couldn’t believe we missed each other that night. We have always been friends and supportive of each other, so we decided we had to collaborate soon to memorize that funny moment and show our love of the tribal and Afrohouse sound, and this is how ‘Hotsteppa’ was born
Big up di crew ini di area. Getting ‘Hotsteppa‘ out was a labor of love. From finding the right collaborator in Sam Blacky, to finding the right vocalist, and last but not least, finding the right label in Spinnin’ Deep. It’s taken over a year, but we can finally say… here comes the ‘Hotsteppa.’ It’s like when they say the name of the movie in the movie, but with the song title, haha
