“Talib Kweli & Madlib Drop ‘Liberation 2’ Album Featuring Q-Tip, Mac Miller, and Others”
Talib Kweli and Madlib have collaborated once again to produce the sequel to their 2007 album, Liberation 2. The album features a posthumous contribution from Mac Miller and surprises listeners with 15 tracks, including contributions from Q-Tip, Westside Gunn, Roc Marciano, and African artists Cassper Nyovest and Seun Kuti. The artists have taken a conscious approach to their music, highlighting the importance of honest, message-driven music that honours the past sounds. They believe that hip-hop’s stereotypical association with materialism and debauchery has lost its appeal and that meaningful music is more relevant than ever.
The album’s release is exclusive to the Luminary podcast network, much like their latest album, No Fear of Time. It is not clear if the album will be released on DSPs. The music video for “These Messages,” featuring Amani, is available for viewing.
