Simon Doty Releases “Tattoo” on Anjunadeep
Surfing the wave generated by Simon Doty’s headline set and sell-out B2B with Yotto at Anjunadeep’s Explorations festival in Dhrmi, Albania, here’s the freshly released ‘Tattoo’ with Ruth Royall on vocals, as well as the Canadian producer’s club-friendly ‘3am in Dhrmi’ mix.
Previous support has come from Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Adam Beyer, Adriatique, Gorgon City, Hot Since 82, Lane 8, Sirius XM, Ben Malone, Future Music, and DJ Mag; Spotify’s Night Rider, Friday Cratediggers, Fresh Finds, Operator, and Bangers; and Apple Music’s House Nation and New In Dance.
‘After working with Ruth Royall last year, I was so impressed, I asked her to do an original track together; and she sent the incredible topline for ‘Tattoo” Simon says. ‘The original mix is more radio-friendly, so I made a club mix, and the first time I played it was closing down the Empire stage in Dhërmi.’
Doty’s ‘Hometown EP’ and ‘Living Sound EP,’ both on Anjunadeep, have gathered just under 1 million plays to date.
‘Tattoo (original mix)’: blending deep throbbing rhythm n’ bass, expressive piano stabs, and Ruth Royall’s ethereal vocal melodies, this is an obvious summer song that has already been tried and proven on the path to euphoric acclaim.
‘Tattoo (3am in Dhrmi mix)’: the ‘clubbier’ cousin features a stronger build, a driving rhythm, a quicker piano riff, and the vocals broken into anthemic, shivery slices. Ideal for heated dancefloors in chilly locations.
Doty’s own event brand/label RECESS just debuted with his ‘Reality Check’ EP, which included remixes by Dosem and Black Circle. Following a series of well-received events at Treehouse Miami, the blossoming party brand expands into other cities this year, including Las Vegas.
