Moksi and Nostalgix Drop Bass House Banger “Gimme Bass”
Moksi is back with a bang. The Dutch electronic music project, which recently became a solo act after the departure of Diego Stijnen, has just released the lead single off its first solo album, Moksi Crew. The track, titled “Gimme Bass”, features the vocals and production of rising Canadian house music star Nostalgix.
What is “Gimme Bass” about?
“Gimme Bass” is a bass house banger that showcases the signature sound of both Moksi and Nostalgix. The track starts with a catchy vocal hook that demands more bass, followed by a drop that delivers exactly that. The bassline is distorted and groovy, while the drums are punchy and energetic. The track also features some glitchy and metallic sound effects that add to the overall intensity and dynamism of the song.
The track was started in early 2022 in a studio near Los Angeles, where Moksi and Nostalgix met and decided to collaborate. They both share a passion for bass-heavy music and a similar vision for their careers. They also became good friends after doing shows together and supporting each other’s music.
Moksi says: “Ever since Nostalgix came on the block, I’ve been wanting to work with her. Her songs, live shows and personality really click with me. Her vocals literally screamed for a bass-heavy production, and so that’s what we did!”
Nostalgix adds: “I’ve been a fan of Moksi since I started DJing in 2017. I would always play out his records and still do. Over the past couple of years we became good friends doing shows together and I absolutely love Moksi’s energy. We decided to get into the studio together, had the best time and created this amazing record from it. I love it so much!”
When and where can I listen to “Gimme Bass”?
“Gimme Bass” is out now on Barong Family, the label founded by Yellow Claw that has been supporting Moksi since its inception. You can stream or download the track on various platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Music, Beatport, SoundCloud and more.
The track is also the first taste of Moksi‘s upcoming solo album, Moksi Crew, which is expected to drop later this year. The album will feature more collaborations with other artists, as well as some solo tracks that showcase Moksi‘s evolution as a producer and DJ.
Moksi says: “Moksi Crew is my first solo album and I’m super excited about it. It’s a mix of everything I love about music: bass, house, hip-hop, trap, dubstep, you name it. It’s also a tribute to all the people who have supported me throughout my journey: my fans, my friends, my family and my crew. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”
